Figma Agent and Brand Identity: Why “Make It Beautiful” Is Not Enough

An AI-generated interface can look polished and still feel wrong for the brand. Before writing another prompt, it is worth asking a more useful question: does the assistant understand the design decisions behind the product?

On October 23, 2026, Figma published guidance on giving its agent design-system context through approved libraries, instructions, and examples. The company also notes that guidelines work best when creating new designs; consistency when editing existing work is still being improved. Source: Figma’s official blog.

Why this matters for designers

The practical interpretation: the quality of an output depends partly on how clearly the team communicates its decisions.

“Design a premium landing page” leaves considerable room for guesswork. Does premium mean generous whitespace, strong contrast, restrained typography, or cinematic imagery? More importantly, which combination suits this audience and this particular offer?

Specific direction also makes review more useful. Instead of saying that a screen feels wrong, a designer can identify a weak information hierarchy, an inappropriate type scale, or a call to action that competes with secondary content.

A practical example: a real estate landing page

Imagine developing a website for a residential project. Before requesting a layout, prepare a compact reference covering:

  • Approved Arabic and English typography.
  • Brand colors and their intended roles.
  • The sequence of project information.
  • Rules for photography, prices, and numerical details.
  • A reference page that demonstrates the desired visual tone.

Start with one small-screen layout. Check Arabic reading order, text legibility, image relevance, and the visibility of the enquiry button before expanding the design.

This is a suggested workflow, rather than a benchmark of the agent’s performance or a promise that it will follow every instruction correctly.

Where art direction still matters

Art direction determines what deserves attention, what can be removed, and how imagery, language, and motion support the same idea.

AI assistance can help explore alternatives. Choosing the right alternative still requires an understanding of the project and the people it needs to reach.

A polished interface becomes useful when it helps visitors understand the offer and take the next step. Before making the prompt longer, make the design reference clearer.
